The Lekki Concession Company has urged motorists to approach its various centres to register for the E-payment at the toll plazas.
The Managing Director of the LCC- Yomi Omomuwasan, who gave the charge while addressing the press on Tuesday, noted that over 13,000 people had registered for the e-payment.
Omomuwasan, who noted that the grace period of two weeks given to people who were not aware of the cashless policy would elapse on Monday, added that cash payment would no longer be accepted on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
He said, “Since we started the cashless policy on January 2, 2020, we have continued to see growth in the number of people registering for the e-payment. We have a growing number of people registering daily; close to 13,000 people newly registered for the non-cashless payment.
“Prior to now, on a daily basis, we have up to 29,000 vehicles passing the bridge and out of the 29,000, we have 10,000 with e-tag before now and we now have additional 13,000 newly registered. With this, we can say we are making progress. But our aim is to make both the bridge and the road cashless, so we need more people to register on the e-tag.”
Omomuwasan assured motorists registering for the e-payment that all operational challenges would be solved.
A motorist, Dayo Oyerinde, said traffic had reduced since the commencement of the e-payment at the toll plaza.
