The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a security company in Dubai for the supply of surveillance helicopters as part of efforts to stop banditry and other violent crimes in the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Zailani Bappa, said in a statement on Friday the helicopters had the capacity for advanced security surveillance.
Zailani said, “The helicopters are rugged and have camera capacities, as well as a three-hour stretch capacity for a surveillance trip with a maximum speed of 224km per hour and, are equipped with tracker systems.”
He said the choppers would be deployed for security surveillance and aerial patrol in the forests, borders and towns in the state in conjunction with the police and other security agencies.
