The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders to deploy adequate personnel and resources throughout the length and breadth of the country during the yuletide season.
The IG noted that the deployment was to include recreational and picnic centres to protect fun seekers who are out for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed the development in a statement yesterday.
He said, “In the spirit of the season, the IG has ordered all Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders to deploy adequate personnel and resources throughout the length and breadth of the country including recreational and picnic centres to protect fun seekers who are out for the festive celebrations.
“He gave the instruction while having a meeting with Tactical Commanders, including Commanders of the Police Mobile Force, Border Patrol Force, Safer Highway, etc., at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall on Tuesday, 19th December 2023 and re-echoed the same instruction at a similar meeting with the intelligence units of the Force on Thursday.
“In the same vein, the Police would be having its Christmas Carol and Service of 9 Lessons on Friday, December 22 2023 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
“The Carol will have in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life including the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen atoe George Akume; Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam; Chairman Police Service Commission, Dr Solomon Arase; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, amongst others.”
