The General Manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, has urged the residents of Falomo and Badore to make use of their training on water hyacinth recycling.
Emmanuel gave the charge during the fourth edition of the Annual Water Hyacinth Recycling Initiative organised by LASWA in conjunction with a Non-Government Organisation, Mitimeth, in Lagos.
The seven-day recycling training commenced on December 7 and lasted till December 14, at the Badore Ferry Terminal and the LASWA Yard Falomo Ikoyi –Lagos for the Central Business District.

Emmanuel said, “For the longest time possible, water hyacinth has been considered a menace on our waterways. As we know, we are living in times when people are turning waste into wealth. This is a testament to show us that what we term as waste can be productive by turning it into wealth.
“After today, you can be empowered to turn it into a sustainable venture. We as LASWA on the side of the government have created an enabling environment.”
Emmanuel said 300 people had benefitted from the training in the last three years.
