A commercial motorcycle company, SafeBoda, has launched its operations in Ibadan, Oyo State. The ride-hailing service has pledged to leverage on advancement in technology to offer cutting edge services to its potential customers.
The company with roots in Uganda was remarked to have expanded its operations to the nooks and crannies of Kenya.
According to officials of the company, its entry to Ibadan was aimed at setting a higher trend for the okada industry by giving emphasis to safety and trust.
Apart from convenience and ease, officials of the company said Safeboda Nigeria would help in guaranteeing increased safety in view of the current security risks in the land.
While addressing journalists on the services, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Alastair Sussock, said the bike hailing company is a start-up innovative solution to motorcycle taxi transportation in Africa.
“The on-demand service focuses on safety, security and building community between SafeBoda drivers and passengers. Our presence in Nigeria will not only make transportation easier and less stressful but will be focused on building a community of law-abiding and responsible citizens.
The Country Manager of the company, Babajide Durosola, disclosed that it launched in Ibadan seven months after Oride had been in operations in the city.
He said, “We are not competing with anybody; our focus is better service delivery to our customers. With the population of about 4.5million people with compelling needs to move around in quest for survival, the prospect is very high.
“We spent more time studying the market before we kick start. We have already approached the state government before coming to Ibadan and we are ready to relate with them and keep to the rule and regulations of doing business in the state.”
The company’s operations started on Monday, with the operators plying routes within Eleyele, Sango, Bashorun, Gate, UI, Poly, Bodija, New Bodija, Agodi, Ijokodo, UCH, Mokola, Dugbe and Jericho.
