United States Transportation Security Administration and Delta Airlines have launched two newly-designed automated screening lanes to improve passenger facilitation.
The airline revealed in a statement that customers moved through security lines more quickly this summer at Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal, which is its hometown airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport due to the improvement.
The airline said in addition to the world’s first dual-tray load that improved the efficiency of the security screening process, computed tomography scanners that allow travellers to keep electronics in their carry-on bags had been introduced.
The airline stated that the partnership with the TSA was a reflection of its commitment to helping customers enjoy a seamless and stress-free travel experience in the airport long before they could board their flight.
“Making these additional investments with the TSA to enhance the security process is part of Delta taking ownership of every aspect of the travel experience to help reduce stress and improve the overall customer experience,” Joyce Gareth – Delta’s Senior Vice President, Airport Customer Service and President, Cargo, said.
“This is the latest way Delta is investing to make travel through the airport easier as the airline is no stranger to partnering government agencies to improve airport processes. In 2016, Delta became the first airline to invest in the first generation of more efficient and high-tech automated screening lanes,” Gareth added.
The airline said the move in the international terminal of the world’s busiest airport came on the heels of Delta working with the US Customs and Border Protection to launch the first fully biometric terminal.
The TSA Assistant Administrator for Requirements and Capabilities Analysis, Austin Gould, was quoted to have said the safety and security of travellers remained the number one priority of the TSA.
“Our partnership with Delta is critical in helping develop innovative security enhancements. This new technology is the latest advancement in Delta and the TSA’s partnership to continue improving the customer experience,” he said.
Delta said the partnerships with the TSA and other groups were important in pioneering the future of air travel.
