An official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who was said to be on a motorcycle, was reportedly killed by a trailer on Sunday in a traffic gridlock in Zuba town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Witnesses who spoke with Abuja Metro of Daily Trust, yesterday, said both the truck driver and the deceased were heading toward the same direction but suddenly the late official hit a road barrier and he was hit from the back by the truck.

Abuja Metro reports that cases of accidents have been on the rise around Zuba-Madalla as well as neighbouring Tungan-Maje axis since the beginning of the road construction with one of the two lanes closed for the project.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Zuba, CSP Haruna A. Suntai, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust reporter when contacted on phone yesterday.

He said the deceased sustained some injuries and was rushed to a clinic in the town, where he died later in the day.

It was learnt that he had since been buried in his community in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

Daily Trust further learnt that the truck driver, who was coming from Lagos through the Suleja-Minna Road bye pass, proceeded to the Gwagwalada town to offload the content of his truck before reporting back to the Zuba Police Division where he is being detained.
