Executors of the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Markurdi road, the China Harbour Engineering Company Nigeria Limited have disclosed plans to commence a cashless tolling system on the road to ensure prudent use of the funds generated.
According to the engineering firm, the cashless tooling will commence on the 16th of January, 2025, explaining that the development signifies the beginning of the Operations and Maintenance of the road to ensure a sustainable, world-class road network.
It noted that tolls collected will go towards funding road maintenance, rescue services, improved security services, and rest areas among others.
The firm explained: “The cashless tolling system is a strategic programme under the Highway Development and Management Initiative, aimed at promoting a strong and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
“With cashless Tolling, payments are guaranteed to be accounted for.
“Motorists are therefore advised to always get their Etags at the Toll plazas or Touch n Go cards at the Toll plazas, Trailer Parks, Garages and POS operators all along the expressway.
“They can also just pull up with POS cards and experience a new dimension in tolling.”
