An accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has resulted in three persons being burnt to death while one other sustained injuries.

The accident, which occurred on Friday, involved a pick-up van around Danco filling station in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, State Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Umar disclosed that the accident occurred around 4:37 PM and was caused by speeding and loss of control by the driver of the pick-up van.

He said the pick-up van, with no registration number, was on top speed when it lost control and hit a truck. He added that the van went up in flames afterwards.

According to him, five persons were involved in the accident, all males. He added that one person was injured while three persons were burnt to death.

He said, “One vehicle was involved; a pick-up van with no registration number. The suspected cause of the lone crash was speeding, which led to loss of control. The van hit a truck and went up in flames immediately.”

The FRSC boss noted that the injured victim was taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention while the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
