Freight forwarders under the union of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency at the nation’s seaports due to difficulties in cargo clearing.
The Vice President of the association, Dr Kayode Farinto, on Wednesday, tasked the government to do something regarding this before clearing agents took laws into their hands.

Farinto alleged that freight forwarders lose about N300m on a weekly basis to illegal collection by some members of the Presidential Task Team.
He explained that the illegal collection of money had now got to a point that could be described as the survival of the fittest before a truck could be allowed entrance to the port, as a result of bribery and corruption predominantly present at the ports.
