According to RTEAN, the move was in line with the union’s strategic direction to further reposition itself as a law abiding group.

The committee has been saddled with the task of re-orientating members, flushing out unlawful elements, and ensuring peaceful operations of the union members at motor parks across the state.

Owoseni is expected to lead campaigns against drug abuse, thuggery, hooliganism and other anti social behaviours at the parks.

This was disclosed in an appointment letter, effective Monday April 8, 2024, issued to him in Lagos by the union, and signed by the state secretary, Alhaji Yussuf Adebayo.

The letter partly read: “Sequel upon the State Executive Council’s resolution to re-engineer the Association in all facets, coupled with our total commitment to eliminate all impediments to effective service delivery by our esteemed members towards achieving our utmost goal of expansion and eradicating touts all over in the Association, I have been mandated by the State Executive Council of the Association to officially notify you that you have been appointed as the Chairman of RTEAN LSB State Taskforce.

“You are charged to weed our parks and garages of un-wanted elements, alcoholics, indian hemp smokers and law breakers in accordance with our constitution.”
