The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed satisfaction with the new layout of the Allen Junction road on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, stating that the redesign will improve traffic in the area.
The Allen Junction is one of the spots across the metropolis notorious for vehicular logjam due to a broad roundabout, which was identified as an impediment to free flow of traffic and consequently removed.
According to a statement, 16 highways are currently undergoing re-construction and junction improvement.
Three of the six junctions captured in the first phase of the road improvement programme, which has been completed are Allen Junction, Ikotun Roundabout and Maryland Junction.
I also inspected the redesigned Allen Junction and Lekki roundabouts. I am impressed with the quality of work which will remove the usual gridlock around these areas. pic.twitter.com/DWfw16a3zB

Sanwo-Olu, who visited the Allen Junction at the weekend, said the road improvement programme would relieve commuters of the burden of heavy traffic, reduce journey time and increase productivity.
He said, “Apart from re-designing the junction, there are light traffic cameras installed on this junction from where we can remotely monitor what is happening on this axis any time of the day. These are parts of the improvement we have brought on this road and others we are redesigning.”
