Osun State Police Command has issued a warning to people with unregistered vehicles or covered number plates to desist from using such vehicles or risk it being impounded.
A statement by Yemisi Opalola, the Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, also stated that police would soon embark on the mass arrest of the perpetrators of the act.
Opalola said, “The IGP Mohammed Adamu, to tackle all forms of crimes and criminalities, has given marching orders to all state command Commissioners of Police to commence the process of prosecuting individuals, officials of ministries, departments and agencies and other corporate entities, who use unregistered vehicles or transfer vehicle number plates to other vehicles.

“The unwholesome act of lawlessness which has drawn the attention of the police authority posing security threat/risk to the nation has necessitated the need to inform members of the public or organisations involved in this unlawful act to adhere strictly to all road traffic acts and other relevant laws.
“In line with the IGP directives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, reiterates that the command will effect arrest and ensure strict compliance of all road traffic acts and other relevant laws, as anyone found wanting will have his/her vehicle(s) impounded and processed for prosecution.”
