The Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has revealed that on Thursday, that it had arrested no fewer than 63 motorists for overloading in violation of the social distancing order.
The Sector Commander of FRSC in the command, Mrs Chukwurah Uche, who disclosed this in Ibadan, stated that the arrests were made during a routine patrol by officers and men of the command to ensure full compliance.
Uche said, “Micra taxi cabs are not allowed to carry more than one passenger in front and two at the back. Tricycles are to carry two passengers only at the back while motorcycles must carry only one passenger.
“The buses are to carry half the number of passengers that they used to carry; that is two on each row and one in the front. Many of them have been violating this order.
“Anyone caught violating the order will be issued a ticket and we will insist that the extra passengers in the vehicle should come down. There is sparse compliance in the state.”
