The Nigeria Customs Service, Area II Command, Onne Port, has announced a total revenue generation of N22.9bn between January and March.
The Command said it also seized seven containers with goods worth N215,387,201.18. It recorded exports worth N132,399,525.56.
Customs Area Controller of the Command, Aliyu Saidu, disclosed that the items seized were brought into the country in contravention of the Customs and Excise Management Act and extant import prohibition list.
He thanked officers and men of the Command for their resilience, commitment and diligence to work in the face of Coronavirus pandemic while urging them to keep safe and continually be uncompromising.
Saidu commended the officers and port users for keeping the tempo of activities going in Onne port without compromising basic rules of handwashing, usage of sanitizers and strict maintenance of the social distancing rules.
He said, “Let us continue to be health and safety conscious this period and beyond while shunning any attempts at making us compromise our duties of revenue collection, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.”
