The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of a frontline maritime services company, OceanGlory, Mr. Peter Cole Chiori as well as the Port Manager of the Apapa Port, Nigeria Ports Authority, Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim have won awards at the just concluded 7th Nigeria Transport Awards and Lecture held recently at Radisson Blu hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
While Mr. Peter Cole Chiori won the Distinguished Maritime Personality Award, Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim won the Distinguished Nigeria Women in Transport & Logistics Award, Maritime category.
She was among the four women who won in the four different modes of transportation. Others are the Managing Director of Nahco Aviance Plc, Mrs. Olatokunbo Adenike Fagbemi (Aviation); General Manager Madilas Motors/Leasing, Kemi Koyejo (Road); and the Nigerian Railway Western District Head, Angelique Ikwuka (Railways).
Peter Cole Chiori, who is highly respected in the maritime and logistics circles in Nigeria and even beyond, has earned a high standing following the successful growth and diverdification of his company into areas like ship agency, haulage and logistics support, freight forwarding, oil and gas service etc.
Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, a seasoned Transport professional obtained an MSC Transport from the University of Wales, Cardiff, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Academic Staff College of Nigerian (ASCON) and a B,SC International Studies from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping. She is reputed to be the brain behind the creation of Women in Logistics and Transport (WILAT), which is now known worldwide.
The President/Chairman of Council, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Dr. Uche Messiah Olowu, delivered the lead paper entitled–“Financing the Transport/Allied Industry: Stock Taking and Paving the Way Forward”.
Notable among the other awardees were the Lagos state Commissioner of Transport, Mr. Ladi Lawanson; the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abiodun Dabiri; and the Managing Director of PAN Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim Boyi.
