The Group Managing Director of Temple Group Limited, Prince Segun Obayendo, has called on motorists to always ensure regular and scheduled servicing of their vehicles as well as go for compulsory government approved vehicles checks.
He made this call while delivering a talk at a Road Safety Awareness Campaign organized by the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corps in Lagos.
According to Obayendo, who doubles as the Managing Director of LACVIS Nigeria Limited, the rate of accidents on Nigerian roads would reduce drastically if motorists adhere to the culture of always servicing and maintaining their vehicles, driving safely and there drivers licensing system is stricter.
He also called on Nigerians to stop cutting corners in the acquisition of driving licenses, noting this would help in reducing road crashes and the attendant fatalities.
The road safety expert advised that “to get it right and reduce road carnage, we must begin by ensuring that we put in place a tough training schedule for anyone who wants to drive on the road.”

Also speaking at the event which took place yesterday, August 23, 2022, at the Ojota New Garage, Lagos with the theme “Natural Disasters, Road Worthiness and Safety Rule Enforcement in Nigeria”, representative of CIOTA’s President, the National Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika, stressed the importance of safety in transportation.
According to the CIOTA boss, “the challenges posed in the realization of road worthiness, driven by safety compliance and professionalism, have been the concern for all of use as a nation, and a concern for us as transport professionals”.
In his speech, the Chairman, CIoTA Lagos State, Dr. Taiwo Salaam re-echoed the need for safety consciousness in ensuring road worthiness and professionalism of all drivers.
Others who spoke at the event include officials of the FRSC and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
The representative of the FRSC, Commander O. C Olakoju shared some road-use ethics and sensitized all participants on the need to be safety conscious while his colleague; Commander Ayo Ologun, enlightened the park’s union members on step by step procedures for safer use of the roads especially as the “ember” month is approaching.
