The Director General and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, has unveiled a monument logo conceived and constructed by NYSC Batches A, B, and C of 2018/2019. Cutting the tape, the DG/CE dedicated the monument to the glory of God and service to humanity.
In his remarks, Dr. Bayero Farah thanked the Corps Members for their initiative, noting that such a project was unprecedented in the history of the institute: “this is the first time Corps Members are executing a project like this”, the DG/CE said. Dr. Farah who described the monument as “wonderful and durable” observed that the creativity of the Institute’s community had been challenged by the Corps Members. He urged the serving Corps Members to take advantage of his open door policy by freely interacting with the Management on mutually benefiting issues.
Furthermore, the DG/CE stated that plans were underway to considerably improve the conditions of service of Corps Members serving in the Institute. He therefore enjoined the Corps Members to continue to leave indelible imprints in the sands of time so that posterity would judge them favourably.
Mr. Faith Afolayan who spoke on behalf of the Corps Members thanked the Management for the opportunity given to them to serve in the Institute, and also for the understanding which culminated in the construction of the monument logo. He envisaged that “coming Corps Members will executive even greater projects as part of their Community Development Service (CDS).”
Also speaking at the unveiling ceremony, a representative of the Sabon Gari Local Government Inspector (NYSC), Hajia Jemila, thanked NITT for not only accepting the Corps Members posted to the Institute, but also creating a conducive atmosphere for them to thrive.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar of the Institute, Mallam Sule Bello, expressed the institute’s appreciation to the Corps Members for their vision and concerted efforts, stressing that their “efforts will not go in vain.” He especially thanked the DG/CE for creating the enabling environment for such a project. Mallam Sule Bello expressed optimism in the future of Nigeria with such responsible youths.
