Nissan will show an electrified SUV at the Geneva auto show that could point the way to the next Qashqai compact SUV.

The IMq concept was teased in an exaggerated sketch released by the company on Tuesday that showed a dynamic looking model with slimmed down windows atop a chunky body.

Nissan said the IMq embodied the future of Intelligent Mobility, which is the name it gives to its strategy of bundling electrification and autonomous technology. No other information was given ahead of the concept’s debut in Geneva on March 5.
Nissan is expected to replace the Qashqai, next year. The company has said it will continue to be built in its factory in Sunderland, England.

This year, Nissan is expected to replace the Juke small SUV. Spy shots published by specialist motoring media this month appear to show that the new model updates the current Juke’s look, meaning the IMq is unlikely to foretell the Juke, although it’s possible.

Nissan has also used the IM (for Intelligent Mobilty) tag to name the IMs electric sedan and for the IMx electric SUV concept.

Nissan has said it plans to launch eight new EVs and hit annual sales of 1 million electrified vehicles by 2022.

The electrified target will include cars fitted with the company’s e-Power hybrid system that has brought the company significant success in Japan and is expected to be introduced to Europe.
