A long-serving Nissan executive Christian Meunier has been named global president of the automaker’s Infiniti arm in the latest management shakeup following the arrest of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn.

Meunier replaces Roland Krueger, who led Infiniti since 2015. Krueger is leaving to pursue new opportunities, Infiniti said.

Meunier has been serving as Infiniti’s head of global marketing and sales operations. His promotion is effective immediately, Nissan said.
In a statement from Hong Kong on Tuesday, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa said: “Roland Krueger’s contributions over the last four years steered Infiniti through an important period of growth. We thank him and wish him well in his future pursuits.”

Meunier began his Nissan career in 2002 at the automaker’s Europe operations where he held several positions including head of sales. He started his automotive career in France holding various senior positions at Ford and Rover, as well as at Mercedes-Benz in the U.S.

In recent years, he led operations in the U.S. and Canada as senior vice president for sales and marketing and operations at Nissan North America and as president of Nissan Canada.

The management changes at Infiniti come as parent company Nissan undergoes a management shakeup of its own.

On Saturday, Nissan said its Chief Performance Officer Jose Munoz has taken a leave of absence. In addition, Senior Vice President Arun Bajaj, head of human resources at Nissan and senior vice president of talent development at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, also has taken a leave of absence.

Meanwhile, Ghosn has languished in a Tokyo jail since Nov. 19 as he faces charges related to allegations of financial misdeeds. In court on Tuesday, Ghosn  said he has been “wrongly accused and unfairly detained.”
