The Abuja Zonal Director of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has said that its monthly cooperate road work exercise program targeted at providing its staffs with mental and body fitness has become imperative owing to the fact that it is good to work and play.
Speaking at the median edition of the event, the Abuja Zonal Director, Mr. Abdu Indabawa reasoned that all work and no play make Jack a dull boy. According to him, the theme of the event being Work and Interact, (NIMASA Health walk) was aimed at creating a conducive environment for staff to relax and free themselves from the regular office stress. Ndabawa noted that some staff work all the time without having time for themselves, so it was necessary for this type of program to take place once in a while.
The zonal Director advised staff of the organisation to always fine time to exercise since it is good for both their physical and mental fitness because of the type of work they do.
Responding to a question whether the programme is a monthly activity of the organisation, he said, he is looking forward to get approval for that and was optimistic it was going to be a regular event so as to keep workers fit.
Corroborating the stand of the zonal Director, an Assistant Director in the Agency, Mr. Sabo Adamu said it was a good thing that is happening though first time in Abuja.  Sabo encouraged other zonal offices to take queue adding that exercise frees depression and is recommended for good mental and physical fitness. Adamu said, for the Abuja staff, it was a welcome idea and hopes that the event would be regular.
Staff of NIMASA who came out for the walk were happy about it and were of the opinion that it should be a regular event.
The event featured medical checks like blood sugar, body weight, blood pressure and health tips by some medical personnel.
