The newly redeployed Calabar Port Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mrs. Marie Ehemeiri Asein, has resumed duties at the capital city of Cross River state.
Mrs. Marie Ehemeiri Asein, born on May 8, 1964 is a native of Uhonmora-Ora in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
She holds a National Certificate of Education (NCE) obtained from College of Education, Abraka, Edo State. In the year 1986, Mrs. Asein proceeded to attend Edo State University, Ekpoma, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science (Bsc.) degree in Geography and finally crowned her academic laurels with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, obtained from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2001.
To satisfy her burning desire to undertake a career in Shipping, Logistics, Marketing and Strategic Management in a challenging total quality environment in which excellence is continuously cherished and rewarded, Mrs. Asein sought and was granted employment in Nigerian Ports Authority as Traffic Officer II in 1987.
As a young officer working in a reputable organization, Mrs. Asein never allowed things to get into her head, but displayed diligence, resourcefulness and commitment in the discharge of any task assigned to her. As a result she held several key operational positions in Tincan Island Port, Apapa Port, Container Terminal, Ijora and Western Ports Headquarters. Asein eventually grew through the ranks to the level of Principal Manager, Traffic in 2017 and was appointed Traffic Manager in Delta Port Complex, Warri; a post she held until her recent appointment as Port Manager, Calabar
Asein is a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). She has also attended several in-service training Programmes both within and outside Nigeria. Programmes such as, “Finance for Non-Finance Managers” March 20-22, 2018 organised by Adedayo, Arowolo & Co (Chartered Accountants) and “Public-Private Partnership Modeling for the Transportation Sector” organized by Institute of Public-Private Partnership, Arlington, Virginia, USA (December 1-12, 2014).
It is pertinent to acknowledge that in the course of her work in the operations unit of Nigerian Ports Authority, Mrs. Asein has amassed over three decades worth of experience in Port operations and Management and she is expected to bring this wealth of experience to bare in her new office as the Port Manager of Calabar Port Complex. Moreover, in all her working life in NPA, Mrs. Asein is not known for too many words, but her work and accomplishments will always speak for her.
Marie Asein is happily married to Mr. A. A. Asein, who is the Executive Secretary of Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (AABWA) and they have children.
