The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has announced that it has commissioned a British Airways cargo to deliver Nigeria’s food exports.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NEPC, Mr Olusegun Awolowo, made the disclosure in Jos, Plateau State during a capacity-building workshop on strategies to combat the negative effects of COVID-19 on non-oil export, which was organised by the North Central Regional Office of the council for stakeholders.
According to Awolowo, who was represented by the North Central Regional Coordinator of NEPC, Mr Oluwole Monehin, by creating the new export window initiative, the NEPC has decreased the impact of the pandemic on food exports, livelihood and foreign exchange earnings.

He added that the move was part of a wider strategy to sustain Nigeria’s economic diversification.
The NEPC CEO said, “Since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, the non-oil revenue is at its lowest. However, the Federal Government has continued to explore the non-oil revenue as a buffer amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“In a responsive move, NEPC has commissioned a British Airways cargo through a freight and forwarding company, Free on Board Logistics Ltd, to deliver Nigeria’s exports to the United Kingdom, European Union countries and the United States, among others.”
