The operator of the NNPC/NAOC/Oando joint venture – Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited, has emphasized its commitment to the terms of Memoranda of Understanding with its host communities in the Niger Delta.
The General Manager District, NAOC – Tiani Alessandro, revealed this during the donation of five 15-seater Toyota Hiacebuses to Omoku community in Gobo/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Alessandro, who was represented by the Deputy Manager, Social Projects – Mr Chinedum Ajabor, said the donation and other projects inaugurated in communities in Rivers, Bayelsa and other states in the region were a follow-up to the MoU signed with the communities.
The Chairman, Community Development Committee, Omoku – Chief Victor Nwata, commended the NAOC and its JV partners for providing the buses for the community.
He said the vehicles would go a long way in easing transportation difficulties in Omoku community as well as improve the economic lives of the people.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of the handover certificate and keys of the buses by Ajabor to the community, according to the statement.
In another development, the JV partners also inaugurated some projects constructed in Akipelai community, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State.
The projects, which were also in fulfilment of the MoU with the community, include a civic centre, concrete walkways, water scheme and a rehabilitated landing jetty.
The paramount ruler of Akipelai community, King Victor Igbaba, thanked the oil firm and its JV partners for the provision of the amenities.
