The Maritime Organisation for West and Central Africa (MOWCA) has said it is poised to work with all relevant organisations and Unions for a better maritime domain within the sub region.

This was contained in a statement from MOWCA when the Secretary General of the Union of African Shippers Councils (UASC) and the Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Standing Committee on Shipping (ISCOS) Mr. Giscard Lilian Ogoula and Mr. Daniel M. Kiange respectively paid a visit at the MOWCA Secretariat, Abidjan. Côte d’Ivoire.

Dr. Paul Adalikwu, Sec Gen of MOWCA while welcoming them, said MOWCA is open to all meaningful and strategic ideas that will move the organisation to the next level, adding that the visit of these two gentle men has added more confidence in what MOWCA is doing and very commendable.

According to him, ” I am here working with a strong team to bring a lasting transformation to African Maritime sector that will be world class and come compete any where in the world in line with the strategic goal of transforming the African Maritime Organisation” he said.

Recall that UASC as an organ of MOWCA signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with ISCOS in 2021 in Kinshasa, DRC. ISCOS is based In Mombasa, Kenya and covers the East and South of the African continent.

As part of the implementation of that agreement, both UASC and ISCOS paid a working visit to MOWCA to discuss areas of cooperation between the three organizations, each working in its area of competence for the interest of African Shippers and economies of respective member countries.
