Several motorists were stranded on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway as security officials enforced the presidential order declaring curfew from 8 PM to 6 AM to contain COVID-19 spread.
Security personnel blocked the expressway both inward and outward Abuja at the military checkpoint in Kugbo.
Many essential duty workers excluded from the presidential order were also stranded.
Around 10.10 PM on Monday, the security officers opened the outward Abuja lane temporarily for those driving towards Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi and others to drive through.
A similar scenario played out Tuesday night as more motorists were stranded on the same stretch of the road.
While some managed to turn on the highway and drive against traffic back to the city centre, many others slept inside their vehicles till 6 AM on Wednesday when the road was opened for traffic.
It was gathered that the situation at the City Gate entrance to the FCT was handled better.
Security men who mounted a roadblock at the point were seen, screening motorists.
Those found to be on essential duties were allowed to go while those who did not fall into that category were turned back.
The same scenario played out at a roadblock near the National Judicial Institute as well as the one at the Airport Junction in Jabi District.

Meanwhile, arrest and prosecution of those not using face masks continued on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mobile courts were seen at different locations across the city prosecuting those arrested.
They were seen at the Eagles Square and at different spots around Jabi District.
Police, Federal Road Safety Commission, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Vehicle Inspection Services officers were seen arresting motorists and pedestrians without face masks.
