The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has hosted students of the Junior Course 97 Armed Forces and Staff College.

According to LASWA, the primary aim of the visit was to provide the students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and other maritime agencies.

LASWA says “Additionally, the visit aimed to offer them firsthand insights into the activities of various maritime stakeholders within Lagos State and underscore the importance of collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Navy.

“Throughout the visit, the General Manager of LASWA, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, delivered a comprehensive presentation that covered an overview of LASWA and its pivotal role within the maritime sector.

“The students were then given a guided tour of LASWA’s facilities, including a visit to the Waterways Monitoring and Data Management Centre”.

It was also disclosed that the students had the opportunity to embark on a field trip along the Lagos inland waterways, further enriching their familiarity and knowledge of maritime operations in Lagos.

The overarching theme of this study visit was centered around ‘Harnessing Stakeholders’ Capacities and Capabilities for Enhanced Maritime Security Operations’.

The theme underscores the significance of synergistic collaborations among maritime stakeholders to bolster maritime security operations effectively.
