To further manage the traffic gridlocks currently experienced in Lagos Metropolis, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has promised to strengthen the traffic enforcement team with 1000 police officers.
Confirming this, the State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde revealed that after due discussion with the CP, they both agreed to form alliance in order to reduce the traffic menace.
The Transport Commissioner noted that despite the State Government continuous dialogue with the public on the need to be disciplined on the road by obeying the traffic rules and regulations, they are yet to align as various traffic offenders continue to increase by the day hence the need for more enforcement collaborative efforts.
He explained further that as government strives to play her part by fixing the roads through various on-going palliative and constructions works, the attitude of motorists is a major setback towards achieving free flow of traffic.
Oladeinde informed that to further worsen the scenario, some motorists are being attacked by armed robbers during traffic while some Traffic Officials are being attacked in the course of their official duties, he warned that anyone caught in this act will face the full wrath of the Law.
It would be recalled that CP Odumosu had earlier promised that managing the menace of traffic in the metropolis would be his top priority.
