The Lagos State Government said it had launched newly designed number plates for articulated and allied vehicles.
The State Commissioner for Transportation, Fedrick Oladehinde, during the inauguration of the initiative at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, noted that the new number plates comprised three standard number plates which would be fixed on the cabin head, body and rear of the vehicles.
Oladehinde, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu, said the new number plates had been approved by the Joint Tax Board in conformity with the international standard.
He said, “For smooth implementation of the AVNP Scheme, the government of Lagos State has designed well simplified, user-friendly and seamless procedure for the issuance of plates. We hereby invite all stakeholders to join hands with our agencies as well as law enforcement institutions to make the AVNP and TVT schemes a huge success.
“All vehicles coming into Lagos State through its port will henceforth be required to obtain the temporary vehicle tag except those who have dealers permit and the state government has put necessary enforcement mechanisms in place to ensure compliance.
“With this new initiative, creating a robust database on all articulated and similar vehicles will assist in providing and sharing valuable information with law enforcement agencies, the Nigeria Police Force and the Vehicle Inspection Service for safety and security.”
The General Manager, Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Lanpe Kilanko, noted that newly procured articulated and allied vehicles would be registered under the new standard while existing ones would also be integrated during their renewal process.
