The Lagos State Government has announced that the Opebi-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge, and other many ongoing road projects, would be completed before the end of this year.
The project aims at alleviating traffic congestion, and providing alternative routes for motorists traveling to Toyin, Allen, Opebi, and Ojota, as well as from Maryland to Ikeja and its surrounding areas.
During an inspection of five key road infrastructure projects, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, explained the current administration’s commitment to completing the ongoing road and bridge projects across the state.
The inspection covered the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road with bridge, the Ikeja urban regeneration project spanning five kilometres, including Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Oba Dosunmu, Sobo Arobiodu, and Sasegbon Streets; the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and roads, the Arowojobe Link Bridge and approach road at Maryland, and the Agidi Demurin and Church Street network in Kosofe Local Government Area.
The tour also included a visit to Saint Finbarrs Road, linking UNILAG to Abule Okuta-Soluyi, near Deeper Life Church in Kosofe.
Despite weather-related delays, Daramola assured that contractors were working diligently to complete the projects by year-end.
“This tour ensures our contractors are on track. Despite the rain slowing progress, public works are ongoing,” he stated.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Omotoso, expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the state government was engaging youths and students in learning new technological trends.
