The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has reiterated its commitment to the overall development of the local Automotive industry as the 3-day 19th Lagos Motor Fair/12th Africa Autoparts Expo opens to visitors at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In his remarks at the fair grounds, the Director General of the NADDC, Mr. Joseph Osanipin, charged participants to use opportunity of the event to foster ideas towards the growth of the industry.
The DG who was represented by a Deputy Director in the Council, Mrs Felicia Oyebolu, stated that the NADDC is committed to the growth of the industry, even as he reminded participants that the Council is fully involved in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative of the President Bola Tinubu government, and urged Nigerians to key into the initiative.
Also speaking, Managing Director of BKG Exhibitions, organisers of the fair, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, stated that “our vision is to see that Nigeria becomes the hub of automotive business in Africa”.
He also added that “The expo is meant to reduce the cost of travelling and logistics for automotive dealers all the way to other parts of the world to source for products for the market.
“It is also to encourage the manufacturers of these products to set up production facilities in Nigeria”, he stated.
According to him, “the way to go is Auto Parts, from there we graduate to manufacture of Fully Built Vehicles”.
Mr. Agwu also commended the efforts of the new DG of NADDC, as he said “he is doing well in engaging stakeholders. He is totally committed and focused on the growth of the sector”.
Meanwhile, visitors to the fair are expected to win various prizes ranging from batteries to tyres among others.
The fair which is being attended by Motor companies and auto parts manufacturers and dealers from Nigeria and different parts of the world, runs from Wednesday March 12 to Friday March 14.
