The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, has disclosed that the State Government in collaboration with Julius Berger will disinfect the major roads and bus stops in the state.
Bello revealed this at the inauguration of the exercise at Iddo Bus Stop on Saturday. He stated that the government would continue to embrace measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
Bello, who was represented by the Director of Sanitation Services, Hassan Sanuth, commended the construction company for providing the trucks and tankers with dispensers, chemicals to disinfect surface and hand railing at major bus stops, noting that the company’s gesture had underscored the determination of the state government to secure lives in the state.
He said, “The chemical being made us for the exercise is a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and chlorine and areas to be disinfected are Iddo Market-Costain-Oyingbo, Iponrin, Bode Thomas-Orile and its environs. Yaba, Jibowu, Maryland, Ojuelegba through to Ojota.
“Other areas to be disinfected are Ikeja under Bridge, Computer Village, Agidingbi Bus stop, Grammar School and Ojodu Berger and the exercise will also touch the Tafawa Balewa Square, Marina, CMS, Inner Marina, Tinubu Square, Glover Road, Sura Bus stop, Upper Campos Bus stop and Obalende Roundabout.”
Bello, who noted that the exercise would end on Monday (today), urged other corporate organisations to partner the state in whatever form they desire.
Meanwhile, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc (Julius Berger) has donated 48 hospital beds, including mattresses and 10 partitioning framings to an isolation centre in Abuja. This is in a bid to support the government’s fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
