The Lagos State Government has announced a change in the dates for the closure of the rail level crossing on Ilupeju, Ogunmokun, Jibowu and Yaba for construction works.
It revealed that the new closure dates for construction work would now be Monday, November 16 for Ilupeju; Tuesday 17 for Ogunmokun; while Jibowu and Yaba would be closed Wednesday, November 18. It added that the time remained 8 PM to 7 AM.
This is according to a statement from the Ministry of Transportation which referenced a slight adjustment in closure dates for the rail level crossing.
Prior to the adjustment, the ministry had planned to close the rail level crossing on Ilupeju on Sunday 15th, Ogunmokun on Monday 16th, Jibowu, and Yaba on Wednesday 18th of November, 2020 for construction works.
This is in accordance with the ongoing Nigerian railway modernization project (Lagos-Ibadan section) extended to the Lagos Port, Apapa.
Identified alternative routes will be used interchangeably to ease movement while assuring that Traffic Management Personnel will be on the ground to ensure the free flow of traffic during the construction period.
