In order to accelerate work and deliver ahead of schedule, the Kano State Government has decided to implement a 24-hour work schedule to complete two multi-billion-naira interchange bridges in the state capital.
The projects include a three-layer interchange bridge at Dan’agundi Junction and a cloverleaf overpass at Tal’udu Roundabout, both estimated to cost over N2 billion.
The State Commissioner of Works and Housing, Marwan Ahmad, revealed that the Ministry had introduced measures to extend work hours to nighttime in a bid to meet the project deadlines.
To facilitate the night shifts, Ahmad disclosed that arrangements have been made to install lighting at the construction sites, ensuring that workers can continue operations around the clock.
According to the commissioner, work at the Tal’udu site has reached 40% completion, while the Dan’agundi project has progressed to 20%.
“We are on top of the situation and working hard to beat the deadline,” Ahmad assured, adding that the projects are scheduled for completion in 2025.
To minimize traffic disruptions during construction, alternative routes have been designated around the vicinity of both interchange sites.
Ahmad noted that adequate signage has been placed at strategic locations to guide motorists and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The commissioner appealed to motorists and residents to exercise patience and cooperate with the government during the execution of the projects.
