By Cliffsimeon Akalonu As the Ember Months (End of Year) gets thicker, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ikeja unit command has embarked on sensitization programme within its area of coverage. The Unit Commander ACC Emma Fekoya said “road safety consciousness is all year round, but as a result of increased vehicular movement towards the end of the year, special campaigns are carried out to discourage the average road user from indulging in acts or attitudes that may cause road hazards”. The campaigns started in the month of August by organizing an internal workshop for its Special Marshals and Regular Marshals, and other activities followed thereafter. According to her, “29th August had a pre Ember/Sallah rally, 21st September had its third quarter stakeholders meeting where they were also educated on expectations as regards the FRSC standards. 5th September, Galaxy TV interview, 19th, 20th, 24th and 25th of October was at major motor parks at Iyana Ipaja and several other parks”. She added that “domesticated public enlightenment is carried out in different religion places of worship, organization and most recent, a new grown initiative of enlightenment and educating out- patients of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on daily basis”. The children were not left out as schools within their jurisdiction are currently having FRSC presence, to educate them and encourage them to be ambassadors of FRSC in their various home, schools and wherever they find themselves. The Unit command also says it carries out traffic control at peak hours on daily basis with internment safety talks on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.]]>
