Akwa Ibom State-owned airline has added a new 90-seater CRJ900 Bombardier aircraft to its fleet.
The arrival of the new aircraft has increased the number of airplane in its fleet from three to four.
The aircraft, with registration number 5N-BXP, came with the latest hyper technology known as High-Efficiency Air Filter, a passenger safety device against viruses including coronavirus.
The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who received the new plane, said, “This is the latest in this fleet and when you have an airplane that is still within warranty in the domestic aviation, you can beat your chest. You do not have to be afraid of COVID-19.
“The air efficiency is super; so nothing to fear and also our safety standard remains to be beaten by any other airline.
“I have the assurance of the management of the business that they will maintain instead of going down they will improve as there is room for improvement.”
He said passengers do not have to be afraid of flying with the plane because it is fitted with air efficiency, including safety-safe-net.
The Chairman, Ibom Air Limited, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (retd.), said the arrival was delayed because of issues of clearing by authorities in charge of aviation in Nigeria and thanked God for the arrival of the aircraft.
