Gunmen have reportedly abducted an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nathaniel Terwanger Kumashe, at his village in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
The victim was said to have travelled from Makurdi his base, to attend a funeral of his deceased cousin when he was whisked away to an unknown destination.
An uncle of the victim, a former Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Transportation, Chief Yimam Aboh, told newsmen in Makurdi on phone that the officer was forcefully taken away on Wednesday night at about 10pm.
According to him, gunmen fired gunshots to scare his family members and neighbours before they abducted their victim from his country home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor in Tarka LGA.
Meanwhile, the FRSC Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Ahula, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter has been reported to the police.
