Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has enlisted 500 youths from across the 11 local councils of the state into Gombe Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC.)
Addressing the recruits yesterday at the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) ground in Akko Local Council, the governor said he merely honoured his campaign promises to harness the energy of youths in building the economy.
He said the induction of 500 GOSTEC trainees was the first phase of his plan to engage 2,000 youths, in collaboration with the At-Risk Children Project (ARC-P).
“These youths will be posted across the 11 local councils to serve as traffic, security or environmental superintendents in our communities,” he said.
