The Director General National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Mr. Jelani Aliyu MFR on Monday, 25th April, 2022 received the Hon. Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Transport, Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki on a working visit to the Council.

Jelani, who was delighted by the presence of the Hon. Minister, said it was a huge honour to have her at the Council.

The NADDC helmsman in his presentation gave an overview of the programmes and projects of NADDC, including the unveiling of the 1st assembled in Nigeria KONA Electric Car, establishment of the Council’s Solar Powere Electric Vehicle charging stations at Usman Dan folio University, Sokoto, University of Lagos and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, training of Nigerian youths on mechatronics and other recent achievements of the agency.

In pursuance of the NADDC mandate, the Council, according to the Director General, is implementing the Nigeria Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) as a catalyst for development and sustainability of the Nigerian Automotive Industry.

The Automotive Policy, which is currently under review, when passed into law shall open windows for more investment opportunities and expedite yhe positioning of the local auto industry to be at pair with advanced countries.

In her response, the Hon Minister did not hesitate to express her pleasure with the Councils giant strides. In the same vein the team had intensive deliberations between the Hon. Minister’s entourage and the management team of the Council to identify areas of collaborations with a view to improving vehicle safety measures in the transport sector.

Both the Hyundai Kona EV and the Jet Systems Electric Van were showcased to the Honourable Minister, including a Fast Charger module for expedited charging of EVs.
