A major calamity was averted earlier today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at about 12.30 pm, when a section of the newly built Lagos Blue Rail Mass Transit line was gutted by fire.

The incident which happened at the Marina terminal, was successfully arrested by men of the State and Federal fire service.

Transport Day correspondent who witnessed the incident reports that at about 12.50 pm, men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were forced to barricade the road with 2 used tyres and directed traffic to inner Marina.

Eye witnesses stated that initially when the fire started, passers-by took to their heels, causing a stampede, thinking it was an explosion.

But reports said that the fire affected only the section that housed a generator used in the facility.

Normalcy has since returned as the free flow of traffic has been restored.
