The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has cautioned communities from burning bushes around the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.
The warning came on the heels of a bush fire outbreak on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, who confirmed it, described it a bush fire.
According to Yakubu, firefighters were able to control the fire from spreading.
She also stated that the incident did not affect flight operations.
