Yusuf made the disclosure at a sensitisation workshop organised by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council on Tuesday.

According to him, concentrating on revenues alone destroys other aspects of the economy.

He said, “There is too much focus on revenue generation. When you focus too much on revenue, you destroy other aspects of the economy. That is what people don’t realise.

“People mention the performance of some agencies around the ports only on revenue. It is a very big mistake.”

The LCCI boss made recourse to an event in Abuja where Alhaji Aliko Dangote had wondered why so much emphasis on revenues rather than on facilitating ease of trade.

Yusuf said agencies should be judged on trade facilitation, adding that Nigeria scored the least in the area of cross border trade under the ease of doing business index.
