…calls for conducive Environment, Govt Patronage Coscharis Motors, holder of some renowned auto franchises in the country, has taken the bull by the horn by launching its recently built Ford auto assembly plant in Awoyaya, Lagos. Briefing journalists during the media launch which held on Friday, October 13, the President of Coscharis Group/Chief Executive, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, stated that the facility is “the first ever Ford Assembly Plant in Nigeria and indeed the entire Sub-Sahara Africa”. Coscharis Motors is the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Nigeria. According to Maduka, “it has been a long wait from when we first announced in November 2015 that we had commenced physical structuring of the new Plant sighted on a piece of land of more than 14 Hectares within our Lekki Group head office in Lagos. “Thus we are thankful to God that the day has finally come when you all shall witness the actual process of production taking place right here, in the Plant”. Journalists were taken on a tour of the assembly line where a semi knocked down assembly process was being carried out. The passionate business man stated that the facility has the capacity to produce 120 units of vehicles per day, but however said it is currently producing only 30 units per day. Revealing that his company is committed to growing the local auto industry, he said Coscharis group has an internationally certified training school for training Nigerian technicians who are employed by his company and also pushed into setting up their own businesses. He observed that the incentive given by the government through the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) was not attractive enough, as what investors in the auto industry in the country truly need is a more conducive environment and government patronage. The man who is keen in seeing a rapid industrial growth of the country also said that “today’s event is to showcase another initiative from our great organization, Coscharis Motors Plc, to further create value as a leading player in the automotive industry in Nigeria, in response to the clarion call of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP). “This is also to appreciate the confidence that the globally respected iconic brand, FORD, reposed in us as their exclusive official representative in Nigeria to roll out the very first Ford Assembly Plant in Nigeria. This milestone marks another first in the evolution of our company towards remaining timeless in its relevance”.  ]]>
