The Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport (CILT), Zaria Branch, has elected new executives. The election which took place at Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, attracted national and international dignitaries.

In his goodwill message, the Deputy National President and former DG/CE, NITT, Dr. Aminu Musa Yusuf, stressed the need for members to be committed and dedicated. Dr. Yusuf urged the CILT members to be attending meetings regularly as well as to contribute meaningfully to the development of the body. He also called for a free, fair and credible election, adding, that “There is limited contestant from members, unlike before.”

Speaking earlier, the Caretaker Committee Chairman and Director, Transport Research and Intelligence, NITT, Dr. Joshua Odeleye, noted that the essence of the Congress was to brainstorm on how to collectively move CILT, Zaria Branch to greater heights. “The Congress was organised to see how Zaria branch would be moved forward”, his words. He also disclosed that he was a contestant in the election.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Vice President, CILT (International), Dr. Shehu Gidado, frowned at the nonchalant attitude of members. He emphasised the importance of good conduct and networking.

According to Dr. Gidado, one would not be asked: “What is your occupation, but rather, what is your profession?”

In his inaugural address, the newly elected Chairman, CILT, Zaria branch, Dr. Joshua Odeleye, thanked the members for a peaceful Congress as well as the opportunity given him to serve. He assured that CILT, Zaria Branch, would be revitalised under his leadership, adding that the Branch would be made a fertile ground for cross-fertilisation of ideas as programmes and seminars would feature regularly.
