The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTN) will today begin its National Conference and Annual General Meeting for the year 2022 in Lagos
With the theme “Sustainable Innovations in Global Logistics and Transports”, this year’s conferences will key into the global conversation about sustainability principles in how businesses, especially those concerning the transport and logistics sector, are conducted.
The 2 day conference is scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, from 11 – 12 October 2022, from 9:00 am.
According to the National President of CILT Nigeria, Mfon Ekong Usoro, the conference is aimed at everyone, from policymakers and legislators to logistics and transport operators, and even those in the academic sector.

“A key novelty for CILT Nigeria is the inclusion of diverse industry experts in the conference planning committee,” Usoro said. “The menu that we present to you is the outcome of collaborative work in content development for the conference, and the innovations introduced into the planning have been a huge success, as showcased by the diversity of session topics which center around the conference theme.”
The Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Professor Kayode Oyesiku, also commented that this year’s conference is different because it is expected to bring together captains of commerce and industry, leading giants in logistics and supply chain management, high-ranking government officials, as well as researchers and academics.
“The theme and sub-themes of this conference are centered on globally meeting today’s needs without diminishing the capacity of future generations to meet their own,” Oyesiku said. “This is within the context of balancing the goals of economic efficiency, social development and environmental protection.”
Special guests of honour at the conference include the Minister for Transportation, Engineer, Muazu Sambo; the Minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika; the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr Magdalene Ajani; Chairman of Fobat Properties Nigeria Limited, Chief Adebayo Sarumi; and the President-Elect of CILT International, Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey.
CILT is the leading international professional body for all sectors of the Logistics and Transport Industry. Founded in 1919 in the United Kingdom and granted a Royal Charter in 1926, it was established to promote knowledge of the science and art of Logistics and Transport, and to also provide a source of authoritative views for communication to the government, industry and the community at large.
The Nigerian branch of CILT International was established in 1958 and has attained territorial status, with a presence in 13 states across the Federation.
