An Abuja bound train originating from Kaduna and operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has derailed at Jere. Jere is a town in Kaduna State.

The cause of the derailment is still sketchy, as calls put across to the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the NRC, Mr. Yakub Mahmod, did not connect.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has deployed an emergency team to the site of the incident.

Nonetheless, reacting to this in an official statement on Sunday, in Abuja, the Deputy Director of Public Relations for NRC, Yakub Mahmood, confirmed that all passengers on board the affected train safely reached their respective destinations.

Assuring safety of passengers, Mahmood said NRC’s engineers are on site to ensure that affected locations are restored.

“All the passengers on board the Kaduna-Rigasa to Idu Abuja arrived at their respective destinations safely.

“Meanwhile, a team of NRC engineers are already at the site to restore the affected locations.

“Nigerian Railway Corporation Management regrets any inconveniences to our affected valued passengers. NRC wishes to assure our valued passengers of our efforts towards ensuring their safety and comfort always.
