The Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Joseph Osanipin, and his team recently embarked on a visit to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma C. Soludo.

According to NADDC, the purpose of the visit was to solicit the support of the Anambra State Government in enhancing collaboration within the automotive sector, particularly in component part manufacturing.

Osanipin highlighted the pressing challenges confronting component parts manufacturers, notably from unauthorized sectors, emphasizing the pivotal role of cooperation between NADDC and the state government.

Recognizing Anambra’s pivotal role in the automotive landscape, the NADDC Chief underscored the abundance of component parts manufacturers and the presence of the indigenous automotive giant, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, within the state.

In response, the Governor expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s support to the automotive industry while lamenting the missed opportunities due to delayed empowerment and the absence of a conducive environment for growth.

He stressed that with little empowerment and creation of an enabling environment, the nation could accelerate job creation within the sector.

The Governor also unveiled plans for an innovative showcase event . The proposed event aims to celebrate and promote the products of all automobile manufacturers based in Anambra State and across Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of harnessing local talent and fostering pride in homegrown automotive innovations.

The fallout of the meeting is expected to further foster collaboration between the Council and other stakeholders, poised to invigorate the automotive sector in Anambra State and propel Nigeria towards a future of enhanced job creation and economic prosperity.
