Aggrieved Arik Air workers have returned to the negotiating table to push for better working conditions after disrupting flight operation over alleged failure to pay salaries since April.

However, following the intervention of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), they called off the strike that grounded the flight of the airlines on Monday and embraced negotiation on Wednesday.

The aviation workers had on Monday under the auspices of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria and National Union of Air Transport Employees embarked on strike action.

The Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, a representative of the Ministry of Aviation, Aviation unions at the National level and the Arik Air branch, Arik Air Management, Receiver Manager of Arik Air amongst others were present at the negotiation meeting.

The Chairman of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Arik Air, Innocent Atasie, confirmed that the negotiation had started.

According to Atasie, the strike was suspended to pave way for the negotiation.
