The Board and Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has formally announced that its Abuja-Kaduna train services will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29, even as it stated that “has decontaminated all Train Stations and Rolling Stock.
According to the NRC, “the Train schedule for Wednesday 29th July 2020 is as follows:
- AK 1 leaves Idu at 7 AM
- KA 2 leaves Rigasa at 6.40 AM
- AK 3 leaves Idu at 9.50 AM
- KA 4 leaves Rigasa at 10.35 AM
- AK 5 leaves Idu at 2.20 PM
- KA 6 leaves Rigasa at 2 PM
- AK 7 leaves Idu at 6 PM
- KA 8 leaves Rigasa at 6 PM
The protocols to be observed by passengers shall include:
“Strict adherence to the use of face mask at all NRC facilities especially while onboard the trains. Please note, face mask must be appropriately worn at all times throughout the duration of the journey.
“All passengers must come with their own Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer(s). The percentage of alcohol must be up to 90%. Please note that Govt. /NRC will not provide sanitizers for the passengers/public.
“All persons at NRC facilities must observe social distance of minimum of 2 metres even while onboard the train. There must be social distancing on board. Hence sitting arrangement has been reviewed. Passengers must sit on their allocated seats. There shall be no changing of seats.

“There shall be no movement/loitering while onboard except for use of the conveniences. There will not be any catering onboard the train at present.
“Our Janitors will be available to clean and disinfect the toilets immediately and whenever they are used while onboard. Please note that default will not be tolerated in order to safeguard other train users.
“We have equally deployed more law enforcement personnel (Police, NCDSC, MOW) on board to enforce strict adherence to the new protocols especially the use of face mask and maintaining social distancing at all times.”
Meanwhile, the fare for the service has been hiked to N3000 from N1500; N5000 from N2500 and N6000 respectively for Economy, Business Class and First Class respectively.
It would be recalled that the government had in 2017 hiked the fare from the initial N600 to N1,050 for economy ticket, and from N900 to N1,500 for Executive ticket.
