A2Z Health Services, a general health services provider in Nigeria, has hosted a health fair for members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos.
The fair which took place at the state chapter office of the union at the Oko Oba area of Agege, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, was attended by the road transport workers from different parts of the state.
The union members who were excited participating in the fair, took advantage of the services and checks on them by the healthcare team of A2Z Health Services.
Mainly, the NURTW members took advantage of the fair to check their health status like checking their blood pressure, pulse rate and blood sugar level.
Managing Director of A2Z Health Services, who is a Healthcare service provider in the United States of America, Alhaji Hammed Akewusola, stated that “the aim of the health fair is to extend our social services to road transport workers who are significant contributors to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
“The stable health status of road transport workers, especially the drivers, is very important because, while on the road, they are transporting many people who want to be taken safely to their various destinations”.
Also speaking, another official of A2Z Health Services, Abidemi Popola, explained that the health fair has been “warm and exciting, our Doctor and other health services personnel have been on ground attending to the members. Our projection is to attend to an average of 200 members today”.
On the benefits of the fair to the NURTW members, she said “it will help them become more aware of taking responsibility for their health. This will encourage them to be more health conscious, that they don’t need to be sick before checking their health status”.
In his response to Transport Day Media, after checking his health status, one of the beneficiaries of the fair, Mr. James Nnorom, the Secretary of Apapa Branch A, said “it is a very good initiative, I appreciate the leadership of the state chairman, he is the best”.
Another beneficiary, madam Kadejo Tawakalitu, from Zone N of the union in Ajegunle, said “I was so excited, I did not even expect it. I am happy with the medical advice, the doctor told me what to do after seeing my results”.
Only last year November, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Aka Sego) was officially sworn in as the Chairman of the NURTW Lagos State Council.
